Yes, that actually DOES seem to help. Slight risk of accidentally adding new bezier points, so it looks like switching back and forth with the Move tool helps.

FWIW, and to help you people from the FUTURE (future…future…future…echo….)

It’s a lot harder to do this if your pen control points line up on the corners of a bounding box. Trying to work around this can be…challenging. It’s a little easier if your endpoints don’t line up with any of the corners.

OH!!!!! I fixed it.

So simple – I was over-thinking it. You can only do ONE record on the page and then let the “Create Merged Document” function add the rest. I tried to set up the layout myself by copying the fields.

In short, download AutoHotkey and create a script to disable the Windows Alt-menu

Small update – maybe someone has a thought for me?

It seems related to hitting ALT. You hit ALT+scroll to zoom in and out of footage, but hitting ALT also invokes the Windows drop-down menus. Any thoughts on getting around this?

Ah! That’s it. The pesky little .5″ tab. I think that the shorter chapter headings came in within that .5″ line and it threw the page number to the tab, just like it’s supposed to. It just didn’t know WHICH tab.

Oh, yes. Sorry I misunderstood.

Tabs at .5″ and 6.75″ for the page numbering. Periods for leaders
Indent is at .5 for subhead items

[PS, I’m proficient at page layout with InDesign, but have never had cause to use TOC before.]

Here you can see the issue with short Chapter headings

Thanks for the reply. No override on the styles and all the headers are fine, except for one or two at random. It seems to be related to the number of characters in the title.

If I make it a longer title, it’s fine. Making it shorter, say less than 9 characters, and it’s not.

A BETTER WORKAROUND: Add a few spaces to the end of a short chapter heading. It adds a few blanks in the TOC as well, but who notices?
