Thanks for the reply John! I actually ended up realizing after some other posts that because the nature of the Screen Mode taking away blacks, that was causing the slight transparency. I ended up using the UnMult effect and adjusting the Alpha to fix (or help) the issue

That UnMult method actually worked great! Just tried it – thanks Cassius!

Ahh gotcha! I never actually knew the technicalities behind what the Screen mode was actually doing, but yes that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation, and the tip! Appreciate it.

I’m running After Effects CS6 – sorry, should have mentioned that

Here’s how the compositions are set up (AE Picture 4). You can see how the Bevel Layer Style is on the “Type” composition (and within that composition lives the original text).

I would have put the particle background video within this composition, but because of that adjustment Glow layer I have in there, it would effect it, and to my knowledge there’s no way to stop an adjustment layer from effecting a particular layer underneath it.

But you’re saying just play around with the Highlight and Shadow Mode? I’ve been trying it and have had no luck so far…here’s how the default settings come in; what would you change it to?

Thank you! I ended up figuring out it was called tracking and kerning.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up, did not realize that and was just stuck on the fact that it would only change if the value wasn’t being keyframed. Thanks again.

September 14, 2018 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Undo Function In After Effects Is Not Consistent

Ahh gotcha, I’ve got 8 GB of ram on a core i5 with a typical project size being around 15 MB; most recent video is only 4 MB with no plugins, and only 200 layers, but I’ve done videos that were 30 MB, 900 layers, with tons of plugins (Plexus, Trapcode, etc.) – the undo function seems to act the same, at least for me, regardless of how much is in the video. All good though, thanks for the clarification.
