Actually guys, I brought it by Mac Business Solutions in Gaithersburg, MD and they had a chance to look at it. They saw the problem and so far could not offer a solution.

The problem I have is that after the job has been submitted, it just sits there. The activity monitor shows it is using up a good deal of memory but it does not begin to compress. About one out of every ten tries, it does compress, but obviously I’m looking for something that works more consistently.

I’ve upgraded to Snow Leopard and I’m still using Final Cut Studio 2 but I’m considering upgrading.

Hopefully I’ll have this figured out soon. Compressor does a great job….when I can get it to work!

Could that fact that I have the older Macbook Pro be the problem?

    Walter,

There is nothing in here in the system preferences that indicates disengaging the track pad from what I can tell.

It gives the option to slow things down but not disengage the pad all together…this is driving me nutty.

    Thanks Todd,

I tried to do a “custom install” last night but it didn’t give me the option of unchecking the other software. So then I attempted to just highlight Compressor so it would just install that and it told me it was going to take up 9.7 gb! So that appeared to me to be a re-install of everything.

    Was there something I overlooked?

Thanks a lot, I’ll download that once I get home. I’m on AVID with my full time gig at work.

    Thanks Terence,

I did a little more research and then found it under “Illusion FX” on the AVID. What it will do is let you generate a timecode window burn in on the sequence. Unfortunately there isn’t a pulldown menu in this effect that will allow you to put the source timecode from each clip in the window or the sequence timecode in the window. You have to decide yourself at what hour, minute, second, and frame the timecode starts at.

It appears that the same plug in for AVID 3.0 might be able to do it.

    Thanks for the response.

The plan is to upgrade these systems in November…Avid is actually coming down here to D.C. to help out with it.

In the meantime, does this plug-in work with the older version I’m using now? Where can I find it?

    Thanks,

    Brad
