Thanks for your insight, it is greatly appreciated. There is a lot to learn with all that is HD.

I understand the 60 interlaced fields info, but I’m still a tad cloudy on how 24p is shot over 29.97 fps. Does this mean that some type of 3.2 pulldown happens as it records or is it just a simulated 24p? I do realize that is consumer camera but I was curious. For what it is, it does shoot some nice video.

Lastly, I was hoping for the film look with the test footage I was shooting.

The problem I’m getting currently is the “aliasing” jagged look around some of what I’m working with when outputting to MPEG-4 for web viewing.

This is a test that shows the problem I’m having…you really see it with the HD button on.

And here is another example of the same problem from a standard def thing I shot a while back…was down in After Effects and you can see the “aliasing” in the fonts used.

The standard def piece came from a raw uncompressed AVI that I had with “lower field first selected”. Do I need to select neither since it’s going on the web? I had saved this with the intent of eventually re-importing back into an editing system but when compressing it from the raw AVI with the “lower field” first..this was the result.

Thanks for the heads up. I laughed out loud at your response to a newbie that asked where the “fast” render settings were.

I’ve been at AE here and there a few years and I’m doing more with cameras of late and thought there might have been possibly SOMETHING I overlooked.

I’ll take a look what you mentioned.

Right now I’m doing a project with cameras and trapcode “form” which is particular animation…so it takes LOTS of patience!

Thanks for the insight. I figured out that this problem came about because the other editor changed the Avid Unity configurations in terms of WHAT could be saved WHERE.

So the problem has been fixed thanks to your response reminding me of what had changed.

Your right..3-5 minutes is still short form! I’ve worked in trailer houses and other places doing video for broadcast doing promo type stuff. Sometimes a big story had to be told in 2 minutes…go figure.
