    Thanks for the response guys.

    I’m using Premiere CC Version 8 2014.0

At home I think I’m using an even newer version than here at work.

After I wrote that question I did see that under the CUSTOM setting for a sequence it gives you the option for Pro Res.

How do I save a template for using this?

    Dave,

I’m still back a few versions on the OS. I will have to try some other things as well. If anyone has any other insight, please chime in!

I’m the only one on this machine. The whole system worked fine for the first four months I was here and now it’s doing this. On occassion, the RAM preview will sound like digital garbled junk. 90 percent of the time, it just doesn’t want to play back the RAM preview w/o waiting a substantial amount of time…then the audio speeds up and slows down…almost like something from the analog era!

Other than trying the disk cache on a solid state hard drive I don’t know what else I can do.

    Thanks for your responses.

I spent the whole morning downloading the updates to the system and the problem with RAM previews is still there.

The system has a hard time giving me a RAM preview and when it does the audio is lower than pitch than normal indicating a slower RAM preview playback. A lot of times it will speed up and then slow down all within the same RAM preview attempt.

Even if I isolate my source files to a separate drive away from the SAN system, I still get the same thing.

The primary codec we use here is Apple Pro Res in that we’re still using Final Cut 7.0.3

This problem wasn’t always there so I don’t know what the hell is going on.

If anyone has experienced anything similar or has any suggestions, please let me know.

    thanks,

    David,

Thanks for the response. I’ve taken my Mac Book Pro to the place that sold me the computer and the software and they were stumped by my issue. The activity monitor shows Compressor is spinning it’s wheels but nothing is happening.

They suggested I upgrade to Snow Leopard so I did that and it didn’t make a difference. As well, I’ve fixed permissions as well as re-install the application twice…made sure I did everything else listed on the Compressor troubleshooting list. I’ve used Compressor on other Macs and it’s worked fine.

I’ll give your suggestions a try and report back.

I second that. I’ve just begun cutting with Final Cut and have all of my MTS files ingested via log and transfer to Pro Res 422 which looks great.

November 30, 2009 at 1:05 am in reply to: Disenaging the track pad?

Found the solution….I was running OS 10.5.8. I took it over to Mac Business Solutions in Gaithersburg, MD and had it upgraded to Snow Leopard and the my mac finally displayed “disnengage the track pad when mouse is present” in Systems Preferences-Universal Access.

    Thanks.
