Drop the Gaussian Blur filter on the clip in the timeline.
Double-click that clip into the Viewer.
In the Viewer, choose the Filter Tab.
Set the cursor on the first frame of the clip, and set the Blur setting to Zero.
At the point you want the shot to start blurring, add a key-frame (still at zero) then go to the point that you want the greatest blur, add a key-frame and change the Blur setting to the number-setting that looks right to you.
Now, render and watch the effect.

I’d use Title 3D.
Its in the FCP “Generators” choices.It comes from Boris and is included on the FCP install disc(s).

Recording the audio on the camera’s tape will be fine.
How you “pick it up” (mic, boom, etc.) will be much more important.
You can try a wireless lav on the subject, but I’m just not fond of relying on “wireless” (low-budget wireless is even less reliable).
If your “sync” (on-screen) audio will be important to the program, you should spend some serious time making sure you’ll be getting it right.
A local audio pro can help you with this.

Best is to buy or rent a pro “Phone Patch” unit like they use on radio talk-shows $$$.

However you choose to connect to the phone, you may want to RECORD the audio to a video tape (camcorder input), then capture the tape into the computer edit software. You get Timecode and a tape backup with that method.

While background hum and certain continuous-type noises are relatively easy to isolate and reduce with special digital filtering…
Reverb/Echo is one of the most IMPOSSIBLE-to-fix of audio problems, second only to severely CLIPPED (over-driven) levels.
“EQ” won’t do it.
Its reverb (repetition) of the PRIMARY audio… the same frequency that you want to KEEP.The “Noise Gate” is probably the best choice, but it will surely PUMP if its set high enough to have very much effect on the reverb. (So it could end up making many tracks sound worse.)
Whatever you try will adversely affect the overall QUALITY of the audio being “fixed” and be very noticeable to the listener (especially compared to any “good” audio in the same production).
I know that re-recording is not always possible,but once you have a poorly-recorded audio track, under many conditions, it just can’t be “fixed”.

To try this, first select all of the “incorrect” clips in the Browser, then “control-click” on one of them and choose “Make Offline-Remove from Disc”.
After you do this, (if your version of FCP is not “broken” as Shane suggested) THEN try to change the settings in the proper Browser column(s).
The clips must be “offline” for the changes to be allowed in any version of FCP.

Livetype is in no practical way “Live Broadcast Graphics” system.
There is no way to create pages “on-the-fly” like with, say, a Chyron.
Adding scores or updates would be a slow process that would involve “rendering”.
The output would then need to be sent through a “keyer” to allow putting these graphics over live shots.
The Alpha channels would be lost in the process as well.Livetype is designed for post-production Final Cut Pro editing.

Find the columns in the Browser with the settings that you want to change and “control-click” (right mouse button) to see a menu to change them (if you select ALL of them, you can change them all at once.)
