  • recapture video with audio-only clips?

Posted by Tad Newberry on May 15, 2006 at 1:22 am

i messed up and captured a whole tape of nothing but audio (meant to get video, too) and realized my previous settings were for audio only. is there a way to recapture and get the video, or do i need to start over and redefine the clips with in and out points???

i saw post that said i could control-click the “tracks” column and make the changes, but it didn’t work here…

thanks for helping out a bonehead,

  • To try this, first select all of the “incorrect” clips in the Browser, then “control-click” on one of them and choose “Make Offline-Remove from Disc”.

After you do this, (if your version of FCP is not “broken” as Shane suggested) THEN try to change the settings in the proper Browser column(s).

The clips must be “offline” for the changes to be allowed in any version of FCP.

  • OK, it wasn’t Shane who said FCP 5 was “broken”, it was Bret Williams.

(But you’ve got to admit, they do LOOK alike here on the boards.)

control clicking in the “tracks” column is FCP 4.5 and lower.

in FCP5 you select the clips and open the “Clip Settings” window.
    you’d think i;d know where that is…

try control clicking on the clips, or look under the FILE or MODIFY menus.

    cheers,

Nick’s got it. Select all the clips in the bin, control click and choose clip settings and choose the video track and away you go. Or choose modify > clip settings from the menu.
