What is your experience-level?

Exactly WHO and for what kind of project is the attempt being made to get audio work and gear for free?

Unless its for family or by special arrangement for a “charity” of some kind, audio ops DO get paid in my part of the country (midwest).

Select (highlight) the mono clip on the timeline.

Modify (menu) > Stereo Pair > (UN-Check)

Pan any way you’d like.

If it were me, after I turned off the “Stereo Pair,” I’d delete the 2nd mono clip so I’d only have to deal with one. To make it in the “center” of the mix again, just pan it to “0” (center).

You can duplicate your timeline and create a “custom mix” on any of the copies (as you said, putting any clip on either channel) by Selecting (highlighting) the clips and

Modify (menu) > Audio > Pan Left -or- Pan Right.

There are a lot of folks there with camera suggestions in that price-range.

The cost of a routing switcher with all of these options would be very high.

I suggest an economical alternative is the use of PATCH-PANELS.

You can then have inputs and outputs for Composite, Component, & SDI, all available in one space on 75-ohm “Video” patch-panels, and Audio and Timecode all available in one space on “Audio” patch-panels.

They likely also make a patch-panel strip for 6-pin FireWire as well.

You would then just patch-in cables between the selected outputs and inputs of the units you needed at any given time.

If its just a general “Why” question and not a “how” question (as I took it)…

MY question is why can’t you copy and paste a given set of keyframes (all parameters of an effect at a given point on the timeline) something more useful than virtually anything else in PiP effects creation.

Or why does FCP “let” you use a vertical position that is not an “Even Whole Number” knowing that any other setting will be “soft”?
At least if should be a defeatable preset to AUTOMATICALLY “click” (or nudge) the V position to an Even Whole Number?

Again, you must use “ASSEMBLE” mode (not “Insert” mode.)

Assemble also records timecode and control track on the tape along with your audio & video material.

OK, that’s why I offered two options.

Do the second idea I suggested and Assemble Edit “back-timed” so that the PROGRAM material begins at 1:00:00:00.
