You must have fonts that are TRUETYPE (Type 2) fonts for use in the native FCP text generators.

ALL fonts for ALL your Mac programs can go into the Mac’s regular font folder.
They will show up in FCP the next time you open the program.

User > Library > Fonts

You can usually find TRUETYPE (Type 2) fonts available with many language characters on the web.

NOTE:
For more creative options you really should be using “Title 3D” (from Boris) for your titles and not the native FCP text generators.

“Title 3D” CAN utilize both “Type 1” and “Type 2” fonts.
“Title 3D” is included with FCP on your original FCP installer disks.
You must CHOOSE to install “Title 3D” (and “Title Crawl”) when you have the install disk in the Mac.

But I will say that I use FCP (just the audio tracks, of course) to edit all my radio spots.

The filters that I need are all there.

Soundtrack is just fine, too. But I edit on FCP everyday, so I’m faster at it.

I don’t suggest recording the voice with the “voice-over tool” as that would mean you’d ONLY have the voice tracks on your Mac hard drive.

I’d record the voice to, say, DV tape first, then capture it.

You’ll have a “master tape” with Timecode to put on the shelf, and that can be very handy.

Are all of your audio clips and the timeline at the same sample-rate?

That’s how its supposed to work.
You can always “remove” a clip FROM the timeline (leave the “hole”).
Change the clip’s speed, and edit it back in.

Does the name have any “slashes” in it?

(Like “Audio 1/26/06” instead of “Audio 1-26-06).

Sometimes that will cause problems in file names.

If its just one clip, mark the in and out-points again, name it something slightly different and capture it “again”.

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

You say you have a “Blackmagic card” attached, as well.

In the “Audio/Video Settings” menu:

You must switch BOTH the “Cature Preset:” AND the “Device Control Preset” to “NTSC (or PAL) FireWire” to get FW capture to work.
