Its generally a MICROWAVE signal (like from News helicopters) and it is still very problematic.
No, this is not the venue of the “budget-conscious”.

The problem is in MOVING AROUND.
The multi-path (RF reflections and odd signal paths “around” objects) make wireless video very unstable/unreliable.I say this for MICS as well.
If you want it to WORK… use a CABLE.I think I need to print and market BUMPER-STICKERS that say,
“Well, it worked GREAT at the REHEARSAL…”
I could make a fortune!

You must switch the Control setting to “Non-controllable Device”.

You can run FCP on a 3-5 year old iBook or iMac.
(Not really FAST, but you can edit with it).FCP can run very well on a new iMac.
Firewire DV in and out.
You may want to add an external FW hard drive for MEDIA. -
No “deck-to-deck” systems conversion is possible (unless the deck SPECIFICALLY has this as a FEATURE (not just “switchable” between NTSC or PAL)
You would need to route the signal through a real-time hardware “box” Systems Convertor,
or
copy the footage into a non-linear edit system (like Final Cut Pro) and use software to do the conversion, then dub the footage back out to a deck set to the proper format.
