Oh, if the TC of the proxies do not match the TC of the full res files, the DP should be blamed.

There is a way to do a batch change, if there is a ‘logic’ in the file naming.
If you have eg full_res.mov and full_res_proxie.mov, you can do a batch ‘save attributes’ in QTchange, take those sidecar files and put them next to the proxies, use ‘load attributes’ and set the TC / Reelname.

But, if you’ve already edited, you need an XML dance, that I ‘might’ be able to provide, but no guarantees.

It’s a very traditional application.
You need to run it, then go to the menu, select ‘help’ and there, choose ‘open the manual’.
If you have read that and still have problems, you can consider mailing the developer.

(I happen to know he’s a pretty decent guy who gives tons of support, even to non-paying customers, but some effort by studying the manual is appriciated.)

I don’t get it.
If you render, you render to a HQ file, that is probably NOT the same as you send out for approaval.
If you must do a BITC (I would add a subtitle file with TC’s, so they can be turned off), why not do the BITC on the pass / transcode where you create the clips to send off?

Updating metadata can be done trough ALE for a bunch of clips.
You can use this to alter ‘some’ properties of ALE, or use it to merge with a CSV or alike.

I’m just working on this very thing.
(Adding XMP to footage, either embedded or as sidecar if the format does not support internal XMP.)
Do you already have the metadata, or do you need to generate that as well?

I’m a bit late at the party, but nevertheless:
FFmpeg is a good util for this. just use FFmpeg -ss [intime] -i [invid] -c: copy -t [duration] [outvid]
I’ve made a front end for FFmpeg that does this (well, and way more) to cut batches of clips based on an Excel or simple CSV input (At least TCin / TCout).
(This was for a MoCap company that had to cut tons of short clips out of long recordings.)

Of course you can script FFmpeg, but there is still QTchange, everyone uses it.
(Well, I’ve sold over 3000 copies…)
Note, QTchange will NOT run under Catalina, but any half decent old PC / mac will be good enough for rock ‘n roll, since it’s just changing a few bytes on each file.

What are you trying to do?

I recently had a client that needed this as well, but he was doing Mocap prep work.
If you have a database / csv / EDL or alike, I might be able to automate it completely.
