    I would like to build a workflow where an xml import updates clip metadata in an existing project, e.g. adds new markers. Reimporting an xml does not do the job. I tried to set the “updatebehaviour” element to “replaceiffound”, which per originla FCP 7 spec was meant for that purpose but that does not seem to change anything. Is this a dead end?

    Not sure if PP even imports ALE files but that’s how you merge new metadata with existing clips in Avid.

    Maybe ask in the SDK forum in Adobe site?

    Updating metadata can be done trough ALE for a bunch of clips.
    You can use this to alter ‘some’ properties of ALE, or use it to merge with a CSV or alike.

    Another option is to add / alter XMP for each asset, like you can do with this:
