From memory, the SCC format has indeed a ‘display’ time flag.
So, the TC and actual display time might differ.Aren’t you able to make a preview on a CC capable monitor?

Well, of course i support the QTchange routine,
but do note, Avid does NOT take the Reelname when importing / ama in!
(this is an Avid thing, not my fault…)
If you need Reelname, export an ALE as well and link.
(in the import dialogue, there must be something in the manual about it…)hth,

and of course it’s needed if you want to do seamless swithing on mixers without a frame store (that you don’t want as it introduces at least a frame of delay)
But that probably won’t happen in the OP’s shop…

It depends on specs, but most of the time it’s XDcam.
If you get the (free!) XDcam tools from Sony, you can do this.
You can even export to your harddrive, no need for an actual XDcam drive.
And, you can import the files (rewrap to QT) to check them.It has a bit of a learning curve. I wrote a bit of a whitepaper on it.

Nope, FCP reconnects based on the file name.
And it only relinks if the number of (QT) tracks are the same.
(iow, if the small clips have one stereo sound track, but the originals have two mono tracks, you need to convert them!)
The resolution is not important!For TC, if there is matching TC, it will use that.
If not, it will relink based on the expected frame offset of the clip start (that normally isn’t good, unless the small files are exactly the same length)So, if the clip names are identical, you’re good.

For the records / future reference.
(I’m the developer of Loudness Change, and i already have off-list contact with Ann, but it might be good for the others to keep up with developments)Indeed it’s set up for the EU, since i’m from there and did not have any US specs. Thanks to Ann i do have them now, so i’ll build in a template.
But, even with a template, there is no guarantee YOUR broadcaster has the same specs (oh, the joy of a standard…)
So, it still is the end users responisbility to see if the settings are right. (Not that hard though.)
And, the settings will remain the next time you start up the application, so you only have to do this once.
I’ll build in an option to save the settings you like under a custom name, if you have different broadcasters to deliver to.For the English/American, quilty as charged. (I’m not a native speaker…)
For a plugin for FCP, / wave roundtrip, it ain’t going to change. Few reasons:
FCP 7 is dying. New NLE’s are on their way.
Even if i got that covered, there is a shift to MXF for delivery.
For most NLE’s that means track one goes to track one, not to left / right.
So with lots of channels (as we all have), it won’t work anyway.
You need a mixdown to put under your final video, then export.It’s not that many roundtrips. As the manual (well, that’s mostly on the site now, still have to work on the manual) states, if you make a decent mix and let this thing render out a new file, it should be up to specs in one or two tries max.

I do agree on getting the good stuff (not alone for sound quality / reliability), but also for nice handling.
I disagree that they have to be expensive.
Good quality cable is about 1 buck a meter.
A Neutrik connector is about 3 bucks.
Soldering takes about 10 minutes for an entire cable.You do the math…

Transcriber can work with a lot of different TC’s.For you, go into the Preferences.
Set it to Pal / ntsc, whatever it is,
Set it to the desired channel (left or right) where the TC lives
Check the ‘expect TC breaks’ if you are sure there are.
Otherwise, (if you have a lot of files, each file for each take),
it’s just a waste of time since there will be no breaks.If that fails, send me your file and i’ll have a look.
