This is a dead giveaway.
Those clips are QT ref files. And probably the link to the originals is broken, probably cause the footage has been copied, or a drive is offline.

Perhaps you are digitizing 2 channels and play back a mono sum of the both?
Try muting one of the channels, or pan L R.

Also, watch the levels. There are sound level meters…
If they go too high, do get some form of attenuating the signal before it reaches your BOB.

Well, i have made a converter / transcoder for EVS MXF to AVID MXF sound, and could do it for BWF as well.

But i really don’t get the point. It probably won’t be faster as importing in Avid, and an overnight import should give you enough sound to listen to for the rest of your career.

I don’t work for free, but the Avid trial version is free, and you are free to abuse that for the trial period.

Now if Avid misses some metadata from the BWF / Wave that needs to be retained, probably i can help.

I once did something like this for Motion, still have it laying around.
Can brush it up and customize it to need, but if it’s only this, any text editor will do the trick.

Go to my site and get a copy of FCP reconnect.
No, it won’t help you in this situation, but the manual has tons of info on under what conditions FCP relinks in what way.

Short possible solution:
Remove the TC from the proxy clip, or set it to a value so it has no overlap with the original. FCP will relink based on filename / relative offset, and it will be correct.

(but in the time you waited for this answer you could have ingested the entire clip, media managed to trim and be done with it…)

Over here it does make a bit of sense.
Small festivals get (often sponsored) FCP or alike sets to play out to projectors, and they often require ProRes.
No idea why as Prores is (imho) as subject to gamma issues as most codecs, but hey, who am i to question that…
