    Hi All,

A short of mine has been accepted into a film festival, they require the short as a file on a data dvd. The short at the moment is close to 12gb in size.

When I export in any type of ProRes 422 the files are way to large to fit on a 4gb dvd.

I tried exporting it as a .H264 and got a file 1.6gb in size, but if I try to convert back to ProRes 422 it goes up to 9gb!

I really need some advice quickly.

    Thanks in advance

Is there something about the h.264 file that is unacceptable?

No it looks fine. But the festival is specifically asking for an Apple ProRes 422 .mov

If you really wanna go for an intermediate codec try out XDCAM EX , it averages around 35mbps so the files might just fit.

The only way to get 12 GB ProRes 422 on a Data DVD is to put it on a Blu Ray disc. Blu Ray burner is also needed.

This is not a good workflow.

    Not possible.

If they need a Pro Res file, buy a 16GB USB drive and put it on that.

Thank you John. Until you came along to inject some reality into this thread it was becoming pretty hilarious.

A thumb drive would be my choice.

Dual layer DVDs still won’t cut it for a 12gb movie. The most economical options are usb drives, SD/CF cards, or a Blu-Ray data disk. If your delivery specs say ProRes422 don’t use H.264 or XDCAM, use ProRes422.

I don’t know what kind of festival is that, but technical requirements makes no sense.

Over here it does make a bit of sense.
Small festivals get (often sponsored) FCP or alike sets to play out to projectors, and they often require ProRes.
No idea why as Prores is (imho) as subject to gamma issues as most codecs, but hey, who am i to question that…
