September 4, 2014 at 10:19 am in reply to: How to create, add movie-like subtitles and what software to use. You’re in for a lot of learning.
First, do NOT mistake CC (closed captions) for subtitles. It’s a different thing.
Next, be aware of subtitles as metadata, or burnt-in (part of the image)
DVD subtitles are a seperate 4 color bitmap stream, with metadata if / when to display them.
You could start with downloading the demo of Subbits (note, this is my software, so i’m a bit biased) and read the manual. Then start toying around….

This is all ancient now with the new R128 / CALM act.
You don’t need expensive metering anymore to be compatible.
(Although i keep them alive cause they are handy sometimes)Check this:

“I am curious, why the need to change the sample rate for the audio? FCP 7 doesn’t even have that option :/ Also, Isn’t 48khz the best sample rate to use for FCP 7?”
Cause that will do both the correct speed (thus pitch) change, and will give you the correct audio duration for the new speed.

I highly doubt that FCP refuses to make XML files from QTchange altered clips. (At least i’ve never seen it happen…)
Did you try PluralEyes support?Bouke

February 4, 2014 at 10:35 am in reply to: qtChange 2.26 and exporting XMLs for plurareyesCraig,
Of course the metadata was changed by QTchange, it has added a TC track 🙂
Nevertheless, i highly doubt that this has corrupted the files in any way.
What could have happened is that the project is not totally aware the files have changed. Try creating a fresh project, import the prores in there and see if that fixes your problem.hth,

May 10, 2013 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Better Export Workflow Needed for Client Review Presentations with TC burn inPerhaps a long shot, but nevertheless:
If you can make QT (perhaps as inbetweens, could be QT ref files), QTchange can insert TC in the blink of an eye.
This is because the TC is a text track (see it as a caption file)
Now, if you’re client uses a QT compatible viewer, he’s able to see them.
Some encoders (qt player itself of course for sure) will burn the track inside the video.
Worth a try.Otherwise, there are more options to have the TC travel as a caption track, thus taking up no rendering time at all.

If you open the EDL, how does it look like?
Do you see the right TC/ Reelnames?
AFAIK, RED does not have a Reelname, the folder name the clip is in is concidered the Reelname.
But if you see that in FCP, that should be good.Bouke

March 14, 2013 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Create Sync Map (or AutoSequence) using Aux Timecodewell, i take it the sound recorder was master TC in this setup, so sound will have the same (or, continuous) TC, right?
MOS is of course another thing, in this case meaning no AUX TC.
On file based, it could be calculated. On Free run normal TC as well.
AUXtc reader can do that…
Tape based Rec run style is of course a problem…Bouke

March 14, 2013 at 11:18 am in reply to: Create Sync Map (or AutoSequence) using Aux TimecodeCan’t you export an ALE, change the headers to swap the In and AUX colums, import that while linking and create subclips?
Then, (perhaps the most illogical and expensive method) set the AUXtc to play QT tc prior to import in Avid. (Assuming your source is Avid.
You can use (warning, commercial) this to do so:

Another advantage might be that it can convert the QT to DNxHD without the need of an acutal AvidBouke

Brian,
From your post, you want to insert LTC, not record it, right? This should do the trick:
