How to create, add movie-like subtitles and what software to use.
Hi,
Good evening. I produced a video for a client, its an 8 minutes company course for employees. Now they want me to add subtitles, so they can place it on the company’s network_platform, so the employees can watch it, and if they want to, click on a button and turn the subtitles on or off.
I’ve done the subtitles in Premiere, AE or FCPX, but in the video, never with the ability to turn it on or off as in Netflix, Amazon movies, etc
If any of you have done this or know about it any information would be great, and I’d really appreciate it.

Sounds like closed captioning to me. You can Google search for captioning services near you. They can let you know turnaround time and costs. Be sure you specify your deliverables (file type, whether it’ll be on the web or just the internal newtwork, etc.)
Not every desktop PC media player will necessarily support captions, or switching them on and off.

Hi. Sorry to high jack this thread but looking for help in captioning. Seems like everything I read has me leaning towards outsourcing the captioning stuff.
I can do this and just need a little clear direction. I want to take my movies which I make, hand caption using the built in feature in Premiere Pro and have the captions work (when I export), on a dvd or .wmv/quicktime file.
I’ve been successful at exporting a QT file with captions working when I have QT Pro. But seriously, I need someone who can tell me step by step how to export CC effectively.Hope you can help.

You’re in for a lot of learning.
First, do NOT mistake CC (closed captions) for subtitles. It’s a different thing.
Next, be aware of subtitles as metadata, or burnt-in (part of the image)
DVD subtitles are a seperate 4 color bitmap stream, with metadata if / when to display them.
You could start with downloading the demo of Subbits (note, this is my software, so i’m a bit biased) and read the manual. Then start toying around….
