of course, just phase reverse 3/4 and mix (levels should be the same, probably isn’t on tape)
Dunno if the filter is already in FCP, (it probably is), but any decent mixer can do so on the fly, or just go in balanced analogue and reverse pin 2/3 and you’re done.
(assuming 3/4 is also stereo…)

small tricks:
Up the colors to something bizarre and let Spectramatte do it’s work.
Use that mask to do the actual key…(no other option in Avid that i know of, but Spectramatte can do amazing things…)

Great plugin, but how does it work?
Put it in my AVX2_Plug-Ins folder, started AVID, nothing to see in the effects palette (MC 2.7.2 under windows)What am i missing?

Use CBR at a low datarate for PC use, but go up to 7000 (CBR!!!!) for normal DVD players.
Only use VBR (with 7000 as a MAX) if you must. But then you have a very long show….For short shows, why even bother? Why would you want to save data? Give it the max on all shots!Combine that with AC3 @ 192 (assuming you do stereo)
Get QUALITY discs, eithere Tayo Yuden (love the watershielded) or Ritek. Nothing else.

Burn at 4X max.
Get a decent encoder. The basic Cinemacraft is very good for the money, and accepts Avid’s native color.
(if you input 601, set it to 0-255, don’t ask…)If that’s too expensive, get TMPGenc.
If all fails, give the client another player.
If you have money, go to a plant and have 100% compatibility.
Burned discs are a recepy for trouble, although i have not sees one of mine (seriously) fail in a long time, and i have had an output of about 3000 discs every year.Bouke

I is Interlaced, use that if your source is interlaced.
420 is for PAL, 411 is for NTSC.

well yes, it works.
However, the real power lies in that it can be controlled by XML.It was designed to make the output of my subtitle prep / tranlation / timing tool instantly in FCP.
(that’s why it’s bundeled with Subbits)But if you find other use for it, be my guest. It’s free.

The answer is YES. You should worry, but not about ‘broadcast’
As walter stated, always check your levels.The encoder expects minimum and maximum levels, so if you go over that, the levels will be clipped.
Watch the skies and see if detail in the sky goes missing after the encode, watch the blacks to see if there is still detail.Now some (i think compressor too) encoders expect full RGB on input. In that case, you cannot go wrong unless your capture was ‘true’ 601 (well, i’m in PAL).
Most important (and then the ‘no’ camp is right), nothing will go horribly wrong, only the image might not be what you expect.
Do a quick and dirty encode, watch it and if you like it, you’re done. If not, you know where to start troubleshooting.

This is NOT correct. DVD is max 720 x 480 (in NTSC)
Perhaps your application made a screenshot of a window that was scaled bigger, but this is not the native MpegII resolution.You can go lower, but not higher than 720 x 480
