Not to worry, Boris has a great developer relationship with Apple and the integration will only improve in the near future. Sorry about temporary loss of the transition feature. It is coming back. I can’t say when and how. Stay tuned.
The new subtitle feature in RED 4 will allow you to import EBU formatted text file in RED timeline. We only support one file format at this point so make sure your subtitles are available in this format. To integrate with Avid simply render an alpha movie in RED and bring it in Avid for real time play back. A quick tutorial is available here:
Also make sure that your Render Fields As Frames or Better Quality Field Rendering preference is on in User Prefs. Exact name depends on the version of Graffiti.
This is a known issue with FCP 5.1.2. It is new in this update of FCP. We are working with Apple to resolve it. In all likelyhood, the issue will remain until the next update to FCP. The filter instance of teh plug in works fine however.
Thanks for sharing this with the forum. If you are on a Mac, RED should be working with all QuickTime compatible capture cards firewire devices for preview since it’s going through QT to display the image.
