In Final Cut as in Avid the project aspect ratio in RED is locked to the host project properties. To work with imported graphics go to the media tab in Control window (make sure that the media track representing that graphics is selected in timeline). There is a media aspect pop up in that tab. It gives you a choice of how to interpret the imported media. Select square pixels if your graphics origiated in photoshop or is a digital photo scan.

    Hope this helps.

You should be able to cut and paste from Word to Graffiti text window with no trouble. You can also import RTF files via a special inport button at the bottom of Text window. Now, Graffiti 3 is pretti dated so I’can’t tell how well it will handle your choice of Chinese font. If version 3 is not working for you there is a trial of Graffiti 5 on borisfx.com, see if that works better.

Yes, that sounds reasonable. First update Final Cut then RED plugin.

OK, I stand corrected. We will be posting a RED 4.1.4 installer sometime today to put transitions back. The previous installer did not include transitions because they were broken in FCP5. Yes, you will have to re-install RED.

BCC 5 FXPlug is the new product that we have announces at NAB and plan to ship in the near future. Note that it will be a separate product incompatible with Adobe applications.

BCC 4.1 for AE is the currently shipping version and is fully compatible with FCP 6 based on the inhouse testing that we have done so far. There has not been a lot of field testing because FCP 6 is so new.

In his earlier communication Peter could not foresee the outcome of our testing with a yet to be released host application. So he warned that there may be a need for a patch. Currently we do not have any issues that would require us to patch our products.

There is no need for one. RED 4.1 has been extensively tested in pre-release beta versions of Final Cut 6. All issues previusly exsiting in Final Cut 5 have been fixed by Apple. Transitions are working again!!! Any many workarounds are no longer necessary. Enjoy.

    P. S. Same goes for Graffiti 5.1, FX 9.1 and BCC 4.1 I’d like to publicly thank Apple engineers for doing a good job this time.

    Hi Pablo,

We are planning to support 8800 card in the near future but at the moment we are not focusing on it. Since that card requires a driver version different from the ones we have in testing now I’d recommend to stay with the 7900 card. We are seeing an excellent performance with it and it is very reasonably priced.

Depending on version of RED there are several controls for preview to ram available to you. In RED 4 they are in the preference window under Preview tab.

We had a problem running OGL under Premire in BCC4 so all OGL filters were AE only. This limitation is now removed in the upcoming BCC5. If you puchased your BCC4 recently you may qualify for a free upgrade.
