I suggest to contact our tech support at support@borisfx.com. They will set you up with the version 4.1 in FCP 5.14. Since 4.1 is a separate set of plug ins you do not need to remove the version 5 unless you really want to. Version 5 may be handy when/if you upgrade your Final Cut.
Sorry for the confusion. We are in a transition from AE style plugs to FxPlug as recommended by Apple. Hope the transition will not be too bumpy.

No it has not been integrated with Continnum. It remains a separate package. We have included a number of newly updated FEC filters with RED 4.

Our testing of FXPlug package has been focused on the Final Cut Studio 2 apps as Apple made a number of significant improvements to FXPlug interface in that release. However, we’ll look into a limited support for older versions in the next update. In the meantime, the BCC4 product should run fine in FCP 5.14.

It seems that you are having a problem with proper installation. Make sure that you you are installing Boris product from the original distribution CD. Dragging files around will not get you anywhere….

Sure, try this:

vector paint is now included in all 4 apps: RED, Graffiti, FX and Blue.

For a moment I thought that you got me… as I was looking for a way to easily sequence multiple tracks in time and then I thought of a very simple and easy to use solution: Use the Title Container! This feature works well for any kind of stills including digital photos. Here is what you can do:
Drop a bunch of stills right in your RED timeline. You can even drag them from the desktop right in the timeline window.
Wrap them with a Title Container (select all, Track/New Title Container menu pick),
With the container selected, change the animation to any of the available type: Fade, Shuffle, Roll, etc.
That would create basic trimming and keyframing of the image tracks. Now you can drag them out of the Title container while keeping the keyframes which are automaticall created for you by the Title Container. Feel free to delete the Title Container track if you wish.
At this point you may want to adjust the over all scale (if your pictures are bigger than project size) – select all, change default interpolation to Const, move scale X down to fit your screen size. Note that scaling will not work well if you chose Zoom as Title Animation option since it is based on automated scaling of layers. I just tried the above with Fade and it worked well.
And of course you are welcome to keframe every track for scale, anchor. Another good technique is to save one pre-keyframed track in the library browser or the project window and insert it in your timeline one by one. That will be more labor intesive especially for a large number of images.
For a real Ken Burns effect however you will need our new BCC 5 Pan and Zoom filter as demonstrated at NAB 2007.

You have a lot of control over the reveal animation time. Look in the Animation Tab. The first slider is the Animation Time, set by default to 50%. This is why you are seeing reveal taking 50% of your total effect duration. By moving this slider you can change the percentage of the reveal time. The next slider is the overlap time which allows you to achieve more of a domino effect. Over all there are 15 different animation controls in this tab. You can achieve a wide range of animation styles and any timing you need. The same applyes to the Remove option (button). Enjoy.

I may add that in RED 4.1 we added a new Update Text command under the Track menu. You can assign your own keyboard short cut to in via Edit/Shortcuts… editor. This way you can quickly preview your edits in the Text window without lifting fingers from the keyboard.

Mark, thanks for the vote of confidence. I’m happy to see people can’t wait for BCC5. It’s going to be awesome!
BTW, we did demo all new filters in all hosts including FCP FXPlug at our booth at NAB. However, a monster set of 180 + plugs takes a lot of work to release. Please be patient.
