December 13, 2011 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Boris RED Not Updating Sources while in TimelineAre you running RED as a plugin in FCP 7 or as a standalone application? Are you loading footage as host video (V1) or as external movie file?
If it’s a plugin with host video, there is little we can do since images are coming from Final Cut. But if you load movies externally, I wonder if they playback in QT player?

First of all, let me thank you for caring so much about our expansive product family. I agree that the biggest missing piece is RED support for 64 bit Adobe Premiere on Mac. We are hard at work on it. The best proof of our Mac 64 bit efforts, as you mentioned, is the recent release of AvidFX (Boris RED5) for Media Composer 6 on both Mac and Windows. As you may know, converting existing 32 bit applications to 64 bit on Mac is a special challenge. Although I can’t give you a ship date yet, RED 5 for Premiere CS 5.5 will be released soon. I will post on this thread as soon as it’s out.
I’ve heard your interest in BCC 3D Objects in Premiere. I’ll put it down as a feature request. Thanks for asking. 3D Objects is a very sophisticated piece of software leveraging multiple technologies such as Open GL renders, 3D camera and lights, some 500 parameters, etc. Each host application presents it’s own challenges and technical limitations. We are working closely with Adobe engineers to make such integration possible. It may require another rev of Premiere to complete the integration. Sorry to keep you waiting.
I hope this answers at least some of your concerns.

Since Box Set is not a single product but rather a bundle of all BorisFX products on one platform you will have to download individual product installers to activate your licenses. You can do it over time as you install individual products. It may sound like a bit more work than but it’s more flexible than a single code. Feel free to contact sales@borisfx.com for codes.

I read your vegas forum post but I’m stumped. I can’t say why the aspect ratio in the DVD menu is different. The only workaround I can offer is to manually compensate for the difference in the aspect ratios with X and Y scale parameters.

November 29, 2011 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Alpha Channel doesn’t work in Red 5 (Cineform Neo file with alpha)Sounds a little strange. If you are seeing correct alpha in Vegas timeline then you should see it in Boris RED 5 plugin in Vegas because the actual RGBA image comes from Vegas itself. I would try that again. Importing external movie to RED 5 is a different matter. In any case, send our tech support a sample of the video so we can test both plugin and standalone.

I believe we are aware of both issues with Sony Vegas. We hope to resolve them in the next update.

Unfortunately not. Calligraphy text is stored is a format that Adobe Premiere does not understand. I’m glad to know that the rest of your programs come across well. Good Luck!
