Then again, bogie doesn’t look both ways when crossing the street, runs with scissors, and only cuts off the beat…..

Also, the x800 had a deal a couple of months ago (maybe still) where you send them ANY old video card (I sent in a 10 yr old PC card) for $50 off the ATI direct price of $399. I then sold my 9600Pro for $50 on eBay. Good deal. No complaints about the x800.

Couldn’t Apple have written some emulator for the plugs? Or would have been a Herculean effort? Let’s hope this is sorted out by the time the Intel towers are shipping. (just had a friend visit who’s up the Intel corp. ladder, & he says the towers are gonna smoke the PowerMacs for performance).

On Intel. Shameful gap on Apple’s part.

  • Beware of extra hassles when not using matching timecode clips in Multicam. Mostly poor matchframing from the multiclip edited into the timeline. I’ve edited 3 music videos using non-synchronous TC clips, and though it appears to work, you’ll find some weirdness as you go. (I have tested it using matching code clips, and it was flawless, so if you can ever find a way to using matching code, that’s the way to go.)

Argh, matey. Hoist the jib, lower the boom, gaff the lights…. (few people realize that most early Hollywood stagehands were in the Navy)

Since the weight of your rig will necessitate one of the larger Steadicams, perhaps you should give the used market a look? The tech in Steadicam doesn’t change radically from year to year, so maybe you can find a deal from a shooter with a bad back. Check out BCS & the Greene Sheet.
