Okay for those following along with this drama/crisis…I finally decided to call AJA.. And let me add that I soooooo glad I went with them for my capture card. I was told they were very customer friendly and smart.

They are. A tech walked me thru a couple of areas in the Kona control panel. I was already thru it twice. But as soon as he said “let’s look at the input” I saw that it was on SDI and not Analog. I remember thinking that the look of the static
was llike I wasn’t getting the right signal. Man very long days of editing the last 3 days, I must have been a little punchy.

So it was the input. Must have happened while I was trying to update FCP. I feel better

‘cept now I have a day of work to catch up on. Looks like Taco Bell and a late night.

    cheers all

Is it possible that my Kona LS card has faulted? Is there a way to test it?>

    Sorry for the endless threads

Just opened Log and Capture It is doing the same thing. What do these two functions have in common?

As for the images in the ETT window. The first images (all move at a frame at a time, by thenselves) are from the timeline currently showing. If I close the ETT window, select another sequence the go back to ETT, It will now start in bars, go to black then the current timeline then to the last timeline. This repeats each time I close the ETT and click the tab for a different seq and then start the ETT.

Okay now I am really frustrated. I went back to 5.01, then to 5.0.4 reloaded any updates for that version. I have no idea what is causing this. When I leave the FCP App, bars are sent to the monitor as desired from Kona. I can watch the output of FCP as normal through the JVC monitor. Everything is as it should be until I enter the Edit to Tape window and then only when I click the Video Tab. And also, random timeline images pop into the window.

    ANy suggestions?

Checked the deck and it’s fine. Another strange or 2…When I do nothing with the ett window open, video will pop up and move a bit then go to black. Sometimes video from 2 different timelines will show. Printo to tape works fine. Also when the window is open and I click on the timeline, bars resume since that is what I have selected in my Kona control panel. The only thing I can figure is that yesterday I downloaded the 5.1.2 update stuff. I did load motion and livetype and proapps. I couldn’t load FCP since I did not have the crossgrade.

I have done that as well. Again, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. This is an original G5 dual 2.0 and I’m the original owner. The tray issues started this year so I really am not sure what could have created the issues and since it’s hardware… Guess maybe it needs a look under the hood from a repair guy?

Before I jump into the big fix attempt using the FCP discs, I trash QT prefs and the App and then installed the update from Apple.com. I can now export to the 844 codec, but if I select the settings option then QT quits.
