Kurt, try Bill Mintzer at Rule/Boston Camera, 617 277 2200. He will certainly be able to tell you if they are available and they will treat you great.

Jim, I have taken board outputs for my EX-1r a number of times without issue so I can assure you that it does work. I don’t remember jumping through any hoops to make this happen. I am am sure I used manual volume controls and chose line or mic based on which sounded best, mic I think.
Also, just because it sounds good on the board doesn’t mean he is sending YOU a usable signal.

Josh you are very smart for a 16 year old. Keep up the good work. Just trying to help you with some of the things we have learned over 30 years. Unfortunately the band is not going to understand why you can’t complete their project so it becomes your problem. When you get paying customers it will be your job to control as much of the process as possible. I agree with cutting the program as a two camera concert and adding in as much “b-roll” from the two Flip cameras as possible. The more time you have the more you can do.

I am baffled why anyone would shoot something they really found valuable on a FilpCam.

I had one problem in that my Final Cut Server found the new Compressor which did not have my proxy settings for FCS. It would not create the proxys. I ended up just sliding the old Compressor out of the FCS application folder into applications and it worked fine.

Trygve, I had many problems with Lion when I instatlled on on my MacBook Pro…kernal panics on every start-up….three hours on the phone with Apple support…
Went to Time Machine, chose a date two days before Lion, hit restore and EVERYTHING was back exactly the same way it was. Snow Leopard and all. Easy Peasy.

I agree with you that the audio settings are confusing. I have people on here explain it to me but I still don’t get it. If you are using a proper mic you should be able to get plenty of audio with the defaults.
Again, the ATW is very sensitive. If you were shooting an altar in a church with artificial lighting and pan towards the window the change in color would be very obvious. I find it to be a little disconcerting. It was one of the first things I noticed about my cameras.

The audio stuff confuses me. I leave it at the default and have never had a problem. The owners manual tells you what the default is. I do not have a camera with me me so it is hard to tell you what mine are set at.
Do you mean audio gain or video gain? I sometimes run my video at +6 gain but any higher than that I think it gets grainy.
I do not run my camera on ATW. It is very sensitive and sometimes will run two white balances in the same shot if it detects another light source. It was kinda weird the first time I saw it. Pick a good white balance and go with it. Change if you need to.

It is not uncommon that the camera requests the media to be restored. It does not necessarily mean that the files are corrupted. It can be a little disconcerting when it happens. In the future, just restore when it asks you too. I have downloaded thousands of files without incident except for a static electricity problem once.
Also, I tried to avoid allowing footage to overlap from one card to another. It is just a pain in the neck. I do not know if this is why you lost some clips but it could be part of it. Unfortunately shooting to card is quite different from shooting to tape. Hiring a reliable data wrangler is a good idea if you are not completely familiar with the process.
