I just downloaded 5 sets of drivers to see if I can squeeze DVCPROHD 720p and HDV downconversion out of my G4 (10.3.9). The Kona has definitely been a good ship and keeps on plugging…thanks to BM and not aja!

I’ve gotten into the habit of doing this:
1) lock picture
2) FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE>CURRENT SETTINGS (self-contained)…to get a single flattened Quicktime file for layback
3) create a new sequence and import this new file, then ETTSaving out the flattened file has always been quicker than waiting for the ETT render.

Bummer, I thought stuff like the G-Drive Mini was all solid state…like an iPod or P2. I guess not.

Got the original Kona/G4/FCP from them and it’s still chugging. Great customer service too. No major complaints at all.

The problem isn’t in the capture process or in recognizing the digitizing source, that works perfectly fine. The issue is when I try to play back a video clip within QT Player. It’s as though FCP has access to whatever component is able to read HDV, but QT Player doesn’t. Wierd.

I use a G-Raid over FW800 for uncompressed SD without fail. I’ve also used it to cut DV, HDV, and DVCProHD on my G5. Obviously SATA is going to give you greater performance, but FW800 is pretty inexpensive for what you are actually able to accomplish…don’t plan on uncompressed HD though.
