    Thanks for the note.

I did a search for “skip frames” in the archives and nothing showed up. Alas, the expression should probably work.

FYI, the footage I’m working with is suuuuuper slow motion and the light is giving a really harsh flicker. Thankfully the flicker is consistent so rendering every fourth frame seems to work. However, manually picking each frame out of the very long image sequences would have been not so fun 😉

    Well, yes and no…

For example, in the current layout, if I want to get to the Final Cut forum I would go COW >> FORUMS >> FINAL CUT. Whereas in the old layout it would be COW >> FINAL CUT because the entire list was available on the root level along the left.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Cow. But, the new layout actually put an additional barrier between the user and the forums.

Just a bit of friendly feedback. Enjoy.

I don’t like that the individual forums are not accessible through the main page anymore.

    Along those lines…

What are you using to do effects and transitions?

I’m considering using Shake or After Effects, doing the effects, then bringing them back into the FCP timeline as a DPX series for each shot before exporting to Color. Does that make sense?

    Thanks in advance.

It’s physically possible, but the main “gotchas” are which version of the OS and Quicktime each app needs. Right now Avid 2.7 and FCS2 need different versions of each.

Are you saying you got Color installed on a first generation MacBook Pro?

Just click the “DOWNLOAD MOV FILE” link under the MacBreak logo. No waiting.

    Here’s a “real-world” scenario that might clarify the question/answer:

I have a MBP that I sometimes use with an old Canopus DV-to-s/video box connected to a 14-inch Sony monitor. It works fine when I’m on the go, but is limited to DV projects.

If I understand the manual correctly, I should be able to play anything (SD to HD) out of my firewire output and onto the screen. Is it “true HD” monitoring, no. But, if it works as I understand, it will be a handy little feature.
