    Hello COW,

I have an interesting question for you guys. My office is predominantly AVID, I prefer to work on FCP. I would like to setup a “Dual-Room” if you will. On one MAC I would like to run AVID w/ Mojo and FCP with Blackmagic. Has anyone done this before? If so are there any issues that I should be aware of. I would rather not beat my head against a wall if it is never going to work.

    Thanks for any help,

    Patrick

It’s physically possible, but the main “gotchas” are which version of the OS and Quicktime each app needs. Right now Avid 2.7 and FCS2 need different versions of each.

Ah…ha! I know there would be something. Thanks for the info. We haven’t upgraded to FCS2 yet and we are still shopping for the new AVID so I am not sure which version of that we will use. I will keep this in mind before I start messing things up 🙂 If anyone can think of anything else I would love to hear it.

    Thanks.

A dual-boot system would do what you need. Two drives or two partitions (I’d lean towards separate drives myself), each with a full install of the version of the OS most appropriate for each NLE.

It doubles your system maintenance, but keeps you from having to buy a second computer.

That is a great idea. I won’t have to worry about any compatibility issues then.

    Thanks
