    Bill,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I used the info you gave me to stop the nonsense from the producer. Thanks again. Bob

    Thanks again Craig,

I just rendered a high quality wmv at 960 x 540 at 1000kbps because it has to play on a large wide screen monitor. The audio is ok for the most part but I can tell it’s not right on the money. Could the 16 x 9 dimensions be giving me the problem?
    Thanks
    Bob

    Hi Craig.

Would I go to my sequence settings and get the info from there?

    John,

Thanks for getting back to me. If you could record Chapter Five that would be great. I am a retired (hate that word) multimedia marketing manager. I spent 26 years in sales and marketing for two major pharmaceutical companies where I got experience on corporate structure and internal process. Now I have my own multimedia production company and business is booming. I started shooting video in 1999 and immediately used that medium to increase communications and grow my customer base. Most of what I do is chroma-key. I present an e-strategy to corporate clients for internal and external use consisting of e-mail marketing, web design and video. Almost every company I deal with needs communication in sales, marketing, manufacturing, human resources, patient education and executive communication. Your book has given me the tools to present the value of video to my potential clients. I don’t think there has ever been a better time to be in this exciting new world of multimedia. The economy being what it is and where this technology can take us is thrilling. Clients need to think differently and educating them is a big part of what I do. Do you have a blog or do speaking engagements? I recently spoke to a group of event videographers who are feeling the effects of the economy, who are not comfortable in the corporate world and I touted your book and was very well received. I think the audio version would be a great fit for this group and others trying to get more corporate work.

    Thanks

    John,

I just bought 10 copies of your book. I must confess though, that I can’t get out of the first three chapters. Every time I read a few paragraphs I end up walking around the house talking to myself making notes, trying to memorize certain phrases and calling people up and telling them how much they need this book. I won’t go into detail, but what I have been going through for the past five years with some of my corporate clients has been extremely frustrating. From “let’s just shoot it” to “we can fix that later” or ” I just threw together a quick script”, your book has given me the tools to educate and enlighten the folks I am doing business with. John, I am hoping you have an audio version in the works so folks like me can listen and learn while doing other things. A tip of the hat to Mark Suszko for bringing your book to my attention.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,
I am very grateful for your response. I have tried a few things before I got back to you. First off, I can’t make any changes to the slides because of corporate guidelines. I borrowed a scan converter, an inexpensive one from TVOne, a 320 I believe. As soon as I hooked it up and turned on the monitor I could see the yellow text bleeding and the colors were way off. The end result was worse. So now I’m back to Camtasia. I must be making my errors coming out the the program. The Camtasia tutorials all say that for the best results stay at 640 x 480 and use the techsmith codec. Most of what I do is green screen work. I have been using Ultra with great results so I stay on the pc for the duration of the job. I take the Camtasia file and drop it on the Sony Vegas timeline and scale it up. Still looks good up to this point. I create an mpeg II file using a 2 pass vbr directly from Vegas. The I create the final dvd using DVD Architect 5.0. That’s when thing go to hell. Should I be coming out of Camtasia uncompressed or is there another setting I should be using? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Bob

    Hi Ben,

Still a little confused. I do remember copying and pasting ny plug ins to my plug ins folder. Do you know of a way to find and delete them?

    Thanks so much

November 22, 2007 at 4:50 pm in reply to: Just some general questions out of pure curiosity

Hi, I too just found this forum and was excited to see some attention paid to something I have been doing for the last five years single handedly in a large pharmaceutical company. I was a sales rep for 13 years when I got interested in digital video and started incorporating DV as a sales tool for my customers by creating product specific patient education videos. I was soon creating web sites for the same reason. Pretty soon my services were being sought by other reps across the country and word soon spread to the higher-ups. I am now director of multimedia marketing (although I have no one reporting to me). My responsibilities include creating content for Digital Signage across our site, all communications going to sales reps, manufacturing, international groups and customers using streaming video or dvd.I have a studio where the majority of what I do is chroma key and insert interactive backgrounds and powerpoint presentations. I sit in on all the sales and marketing strategy sessions as well as executive committee meetings. One of the stranger things about my position is that I usually end reporting to people that have no clue about what I do or how I do it. They think its magic so I leave it at that. I will be retiring soon and can’t wait to create my own stand alone business using my sales and marketing experience and love of multimedia. As far as budget goes, I have state of the art equipment and have access to all the education I can squeeze in to my hectic schedule.

Sorry about all the wind but I live in a state of perpetual excitement having a great job and witnessing the leaps in technology that makes the world smaller and the opportunities larger.

    Good Luck

    Bob

    Thanks Spot

This is getting really weird. I copied the project and pasted it into another instance of Vegas and the black flashes disappeared in the new instance. When I went back to the original the b lack flashes were gone from that too. Thanks very much for your response. Bob
