  • Duplicate plug ins in After Effects CS3

I installed AE CS3 without uninstalling AE 7.0 and now I can’t even open the program for about ten minutes while I click through all the duplicate plug-in error messages. The problem is I don’t know where those duplicates are. I have looked all over but I can’t locate them. I uninstalled AE 7.0 completely and no luck. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Bob,

CS3 and V7 should co-exist peacefully on the same system.

I think you problem is that your plug-ins are copied to both the main After Effects folder (C:\Program Files/Adobe/After Effects CS3/Support Files/Plug-ins) and to the Adobe Common
    Plug-in folder (C:\Program Files/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/CS3).

To check move or add a tilde ~ to the front of the MediaCore folder shortcut in the main plugin folder.

    Hope that helps,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Still a little confused. I do remember copying and pasting ny plug ins to my plug ins folder. Do you know of a way to find and delete them?

    Thanks so much

    Bob

If you’re on Windows, then go to the location in my previous post and you’ll find them there.

If you’re on Mac, then it’s in (if memory serves): Applications > Adobe > After Effects CS3 > Plug-ins

    All the best,
    Ben

I recently installed the Knoll Light Factory 2.0 update to AE CS3 and I’ve now run into the same problem. I do have AE 7 in the applications folder but there is only KLF and that lives in the AECS3 plug-in folder. If I search for them the only ones found are those in CS3.

Anyone have this issue? Any solutions? Did you figure out your issue Lloyd?
