    hi

    FCP7 aka FCS3

select a clip, press x (mark in and out) hit f10 and BAM! shot goes right in, taking out the dissolve.

My transitions are set for Start at Cut as well. I have not tried it with different alignment.

I am working in FCP7, and i can tell you even though there’s no crashing issues, it still has problems. renders take too long, glitchy renders when ther are done, stuttery playback,

I have not had this problem with either DVPROHD or even Uncompressed 8 bit. I have not transcoded anything either, as i did not have the time.

It also seems the problem gets worse if i try and render using ProRes.

    any thoughts?

    sorry i confused it.

When i said fcs 3.0 is like fcs 3.0.1 I meant in stability and lack of major issues.

in the past if i were to upgrade to a *.0 release, i would tend to find issues. then, once the first update was released, a *.0.1, usually a month later, that update would fix those major issues, and other users would then upgrade and update.

in essence it seems like the FCS 3.0 has no major issues

hope this clears up waht i meant

and thanx for your reply as well!

    Hey,

I think live type is great! some of the fade and crawl tricks are fine for lower thirds and “bullet points”and even those stupid little bouncy things once in a while,

its fast and stable and pretty straightforward. just dont try and do too much.

if you can do that stuff in motion i suppose thats ok

I hope it doesnt make motion too bloated 🙁

    Ron

i believe (but am not 100%) that Blackmagic will have software codecs for MJPG at their website OR MJPG, which stands for Motion JPEG (as opposed to MGD Coffee,) may be fully compatible with any of Apples quicktime codecs, such as Photo JPEG. Have you tried playing a test clip?

as for Super 8 Sound film transfers, do a web search for Brodsky and Tredway. THey have been doing it the longest (since at least the 70’s) and a lot of people use them.

BTW, if you do a lot of super 8, you should stock up on Kodachrome as Kodak has ceased production 🙁

    hope this helps

you’re paying enough that you might as well get yourself pampered in the process.

HAHAHA! I love it! Post house as Day Spa! why didnt I think of that! get your spots conformed AND get a mud bath!

(Actually, back in the day, at my first post house, 1″ and all that, our lunch chef, and he was a Culinary Institute Chef, had an Unlimited Budget, so that it was pretty much guaranteed we would get sessions booked thru lunch!

    AHHHH the eighties!

Select all the video in your final timeline (you wont need the audio) drag them to an empty bin. sort by reel name. delete the extraneous stuff like titles and transitions. sort by media start, and make a Batch List (Export>Batch list)

now you have a text file of all the shots in your final show. You can use microsoft Excel to sort them further, OR sort the bin in FCP and export a new batch list (i believe the batch list order follows the bin sort, but its been a while)
