    Hello you all

Been following numerous threads about the NEW FCP 7 or 3, and am hearing a lot of good things, primarily how its pretty stable!

Normally I wait till the first update release, but all the cool fixes and enhancemenst make me kinda wanna jump in now!

I followed Tim Wilsons thread, and its seems there are no regrets from those who upgraded

is everyone finding that the FCS3 is more like an FCS 3.0.1? or has any really heinous issues come up that would leave one to say “gee I should not have been so eager to move ahead”

    TIA

[Bob Flood] “is everyone finding that the FCS3 is more like an FCS 3.0.1? “

FCS 3 is an update to itself? Do you mean FCS 2.0.1? HECK NO! There is a lot more in this update than any dot.update has ever covered. dot.updates don’t introduce new codecs, don’t introduce new ways of handling speed changes, new P2 import options, make markers act differently…don’t upgrade Motion to include the great things it includes. Dot updates add camera support, impliment fixes to bugs, add MINOR functionality.

    Nope…none here.

But as to your question you ask in the title…that is up to you. Do you need what FCS has to offer, or are you fine with what you have? If you are fine, then no need to upgrade. But if there are features you want…upgrade.

I’m going to probably wait ’till Snow Leopard – one new drive, new OS, new FCP all in one hit.

I’m just putting a new drive into our system and cloning our current drive. Then I’ll install the new Studio onto that drive. When Snow Leopard comes out, I’ll start fresh on the original HD.

    sorry i confused it.

When i said fcs 3.0 is like fcs 3.0.1 I meant in stability and lack of major issues.

in the past if i were to upgrade to a *.0 release, i would tend to find issues. then, once the first update was released, a *.0.1, usually a month later, that update would fix those major issues, and other users would then upgrade and update.

in essence it seems like the FCS 3.0 has no major issues

hope this clears up waht i meant

and thanx for your reply as well!

Folks seem to be reporting issues with Compressor’s frame controls not functioning correctly under certain circumstances… probably worth checking the Compressor forums if this might be an issue for you.

I’m waiting til AJA patches the IOHD.

Their website even goes so far as to suggest that you remain on FCS2 until the patch is released.
They’ve already patched the Kona3, so it should be pretty soon.

With your current harddrive cloned, you really dont have much to lose by trying it out.
If things crater, you can easily get back up and running as if your upgrade fiasco never happened.
I would jump in, if AJA had a patch ready for me!!!!
