The Canons are ok but,it appears both Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro are deficient, have a look at Aaron’s suggestion.

Sound like your project settings are wrong. Ie., set at 30fps when it should be 25 fps or the other way round. When we used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II import of mov.H.264 @ 30fps and put it in a Project set for Export to a Canon HV20 set at 25fps we have had some problems.
Now all is ok as the Canon 5D mark II records at 25fps.

But, it could be something else ?

In retrospect, if your Export speed is different in your Project to the imported clips you could have a problem, it should be the same and you may need to maintain pitch for good sound, as in Premiere Pro it will look uneven. If you can check your Speed/Duration it may give you a clue ????????

I’d open up CreativeCow Final Cut Pro Forum it may be better than Canon, i might add the H264 mov. files have been giving editors are lot of trouble with underpowered computers and software. Final Cut Pto have just issed an upgrade patch for FCP for Canon, see the Canon web site.

I know nothing about FCP except my son uses it and it needs rendering to smooth it out on his MAC.
I use H264 mov at 25fps in a PC from a Canon EOS 5D mark II and in Premiere Pro it will only run smoothly if you render the whole timeline. But, when you do , it does look very, very good.we are in PAL land and we have just downloaded the latest Firmware 2.0.4 so that we can record at 25 fps PAL or 30fps NSTC

March 25, 2010 at 5:29 am in reply to: Adobe Media Encoder CS4 NOT RESPONDING….EVER

I have worked with Premiere Pro for 5 years now in High Definition 1920x1080p mov H264 files from a Canon 5D mark II & Canon HV20 1920×1080/1440×1080 Cineform avi Export to Tape & Export to Movie and never go near the Encoder, it seems to do its own thing .45 min of clips in H264 takes about 4-5 hours to render & transcode with an older computer overnight. And when it does it, it does it well.
However, Adobe advise me to-day that Creative Suite CS5 will be out on 15 April and it may solve all our problems.

I think it is the HD codecs causing the problems on our PC.Final Cut Pro has updated .
