Works well on PC, NO ISSUES IN 7 YEARS WITH Canon 5D Mark II using PAL
Darren,
I presume you are from the USA PAL vs. NTSC[edit]
PAL usually has 576 visible lines compared with 480 lines with NTSC, meaning that PAL has a 20% higher resolution. Both PAL and NTSC have a higher frame rate than film, 24 frames per second. Most TV output for PAL and NTSC use interlaced frames meaning that even lines update on one frame and odd lines update on the next frame. Interlacing frames gives a smoother motion with half the frame rate, the downside is with scene changes. NTSC is used with a fps of 60i or 30p whereas PAL generally uses 50i or 25p; both use a high enough frame rate to give the illusion of fluid motionFreelance Imaging & Video

November 6, 2015 at 12:03 am in reply to: Mercury playback engine unable to find CUDA and then it doesI had a similar issue. I spoke to Nvidia and they changed the software back to the old unit which did work.Dell Service advised the system automatically upgraded the driver, and that is why it caused the Mercury Engine to fail (Software only ) ? THERE WAS A FAULT IN THE UPGRADED DRIVER.
I use a Quadro FX3800 and it has been working for 5 years perfectly in Premiere Pro CS5.5.2, it is very fast.
I operate a Dell T5500 an Adobe specified Workstation Server.

Yes jon,
I started in 1985 and the archives have some interesting memories but , the quality today is just stunning.

Thanks Jon,
Not a real problem, more an annoyance, will check that out, oddly does not happen with Dell Precision M6600 ? With your set up I am comforted, been at this caper for 10 years, the last five have been exciting and trouble free. So different from the start with S-VHS and Premiere Pro 1.5.1 with Anamorphic, how things have changed

Well,
You can do the same thing except it is video make sure you do not lose the audio.
Drop the video on Video 2, it will open in the monitor, just use the white lines and adjust the size over the original background .
The lines may have been lost , so you will need to get to the edge of the video to adjust, good luck.
Or try Ann Bens on Adobe Premiere Forums Web Site, she is very good at that sort of thing.

Ps. I know nothing about Avid but, have seen it used by professional producers , they also use CS 6, if you use the right codec you may be able to drop in an edit from Avid into your Premiere Pro timeline , as Pro can do that ?Sony Vegas Pro or Movie Maker can.

Just drag image or video from project window and place in other timeline. Then alter size of image on monitor. Simple.

Timeline Video 1 Original background
Timeline Video 2 Title
Timeline Video 3 Picture in pictureJust grab the white safety lines and adjust as required in monitor window.
You may need to render see red line, this is Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2
It may be easier to add a border in Photoshop ?

March 23, 2015 at 10:00 pm in reply to: I Dropped My Lens and this fell out of it. Is it part of the lens or the camera body?i have been with Canon Professional for years and I dropped a Canon EF L lens in an ICE train in Germany,my recommendation is if it is still under warranty get both back to Canon Service as advised my Chief Technician in Sydney, the camera was ok, but the lens worked with problems.
The images were still stunning.
They replaced the lens at cost , price, a very nice gesture.
Good luck.

I’ve been using a Sony HXR-NX 30 P with no issues, especially as it produces stills in the order of 25mb +. Image stabilization with floating Ziess lens is efficient.

You need a Dell M 6600 Laptop or equivalent with Premiere Pro and using the Mercury Engine, do not just use the normal software for effects.
The PC and Premiere Pro with H.264 is very fast with Adobe approved NVIDIA Engine .ie., NVIDIA Graphics & Video processing units. The Dell is equipped with an M Series but you could specify a stronger unit, I think ?Freelance Imaging & Video

Could not agree more. We changed to a 4 core Server when CS5.5.2 came a long and have not looked back, especially when using the Mercury Playback Engine accelerated GPU, and that was 3.5 years ago.And using mainly mov. H264 from a Canon 5 D mark II.
