  • Mercury playback engine unable to find CUDA and then it does

    Hi,
If I haven’t used PPro for a while I get an error something like … this project was last opened with the Mercury Playback Engine (CUDA) and CUDA is no longer available.

Once I save my project a time or two, as if by magic, it finds the card. The card is a NVIDEA GeForce GT545 (so quite old) on Windows 8.1.

PPro is from CC 2015 with all the latest patches. The current project is HD but the previous was UHD.

Anyone have an idea what’s going on?
    thanks

Have you updated to the latest version of both the Nvidia drivers and Cuda?

the upgrade of the driver did no good.

It still seems to take some time to recognize the driver is there.

I had a similar issue. I spoke to Nvidia and they changed the software back to the old unit which did work.Dell Service advised the system automatically upgraded the driver, and that is why it caused the Mercury Engine to fail (Software only ) ? THERE WAS A FAULT IN THE UPGRADED DRIVER.

I use a Quadro FX3800 and it has been working for 5 years perfectly in Premiere Pro CS5.5.2, it is very fast.

I operate a Dell T5500 an Adobe specified Workstation Server.
