It appears they aren’t going to discontinue it, just make it a standalone product, like I said previously probably to increase the bottom line, anyone who gets a newer upgrade product will get the handicapped piece of junk, since you are upgrading the older software will be made invalid, so if you want better audio software you will have to buy Audition separately, probably a MBA pimple scheme.

I think the idea sucks, after years of struggling with Premiere built in audio, the intergration of Audition into the production studio was welcome, probably some penny pinching bean counter trying to improve the bottom line.

If you bought the camcorder in the US it’s NTSC(unless you specified PAL when purchased), you need to edit as a NTSC project and convert the video to PAL when done.

Older version of Premiere scale the image to the project size(DV=720×480) so when you use pan&zoom you are changing the resolution, the more you zoom the lower the res, using a program like Canopus “Imaginate” on stills will give a lot better results, After Effects also.

As long as he has DV anamorphic WS project settings(720×480(1.2) the monitor screen will show just what he has(640×352(1.0)) even if he selects FIT, he needs to right clik on the clip and use the Scale To Frame size, or use motion controls to rescale or sets up a custom project using 640×352(1.0) for the aspect, the source mointor will always show the video full screen as is if possible.
If he tries to export a DV WS project using the source footage as is he will have a black border around his WS video just like its showing in the program monitor currently.
I have know idea what a custom project will look like exported but if it not the proper settings dv devices don’t like it.

If you don’t have a mis-setting in your project some where it sounds like there could be letterboxing set on your DVD player, DVD player usually have Aspect settings, like “letterboxing, Pan and Scan, 16:9”, Different players have the functions under different titles on the remote, some have it under SETUP, some INFO , some DISPLAY, some just MENU.
Have you tried to playback the DVD with DVD player software on your computer to see if it does the same thing?

Yes, DV is ‘Digital Video’, DV is usually short for DV AVI, the normal video Premiere works with, when you run analog through the converter you have DV AVI to import to the computer.
