    How did you convert it?
What format did you convert it to? (definitely done in 3d, not 1d, to a 3d lut right?)

Do you have a clip shot with the technicolor firmware you could upload? I’ll give it a shot on my end too.

I’m a little confused actually. They offer an mga and txt LUT. The txt is clearly a 1d lut, but the mga seems like a 3d LUT. I always assumed mga was 1d.

Supposedly you could convert it from .mga using LUTBuddy (free), though I haven’t tried it yet.

If it works, please report back.

July 30, 2011 at 6:32 pm in reply to: Render Queue for FCP round trip GLITCH/TRICK

    Hey Robbie,

Yeah this is a small annoyance I’ve emailed them on as well to hope to fix. To be clear you’re saying the following 2 things result differently, correct?:

    Scenario 1:

    • export using preset: FCP roundrtip
    • export XML from conform page
    • import XML to FCP

    Scenario 2:

    • export preset: none
    • use source reel names checked
    • unique filenames checked
    • export XML from conform page
    • import XML to FCP

In theory, you might work around a potential problem here by cleaning your resulting XML’s using text edit find and replace.

I think the MX is probably closer to 400 ISO. I’d bump it down to 400 or 500 and stretch it up rather than going to 800.

Interestingly the non-tweaked shot had a much lower noise profile, and a smoother curve.
I think the raw sensor on the old RED’s was analogous to a 250 or 320 ISO, and that’s where the curve naturally wants to be.

I think the feature should simply be; the ability to duplicate and merge resolve timelines. This would give you the functionality you’re looking for, and solve a few other workflow problems.

I’m successfully using a 35 ft extender cable, (which has a repeated inlaid into the middle of the cable. It works and is about $30. If you’re going longer than that, then yes, I’d end up going with a USB over cat5 as well.

    In my experience, no.

If you bring in an XML, they show up as blank.
If you force conform them to a tiff/jpg in a folder, that works, but its manual.
If you get through all your stills, the system becomes unstable and crashes a lot.
If you manage to get to a render point, they don’t render out half the time.

So no, I’ve not had much luck.

Really? Trimmed r3d’s to new r3d files? How do I do that?
    Also multi-layer timelines?
