OK, I found a plugin that can do light wrap.
It is from the Red Giant’s “Key Correct” suite.

Problem is that it just adds a halo aound an object using whatever layer you chose – it doesn’t really read the pixels behind the foreground object but rather relies on your choise of a layer.
And when you move the camera, the halo stays around your object, no matter if the object is infront of the selected source layer or not.
    It just adds it.

For example: you may have your background split in two and made out of two layers: a black solid and a white solid.
If you apply the light wrap from thw “Key Correct” suite and chose the white layer as a source for the light wrap halo, the obejct will still be haloed in white, no matter if he/she/it is infront of the black background…
    Pretty useless.

Is there a light wrap plugin or something that can REALLY read what is behind it and use it?

    Hi guys, thanks.
I am having problems previewing the videos in Sony Vegas too (I believe it is a NLE).
Anyways, this proxy business sounds cool.

I have watched Andrew Kramer’s video about proxies and he said that the only problem would be when using the motion tracking function.
I think that there will be a problem if you want to key out a green screen using a proxy too becaus eof the lower resolution of the proxy and the loss of detail.
Can somebody shed some light on this?

OK, so there is no choker and no edge color correction in Vegas.
Are both CineGobs and Digital Fusion chroma keyer Vegas-compatible plugins?
Or are they third party apps?

I have BorisRed in demo version. Couldn’t figure out where the keyer was.

So, there is no Matte Choker too?

I managed to solve it thanks to the guys from the AE forum.
It was in the properties of the file.
You put it on the timeline, then right click it >>> Properties >>> Media. And there is a drop down with Alpha settigns.

Yeah, I use the wmv 3 mb preset.
Still windows Movie Maker renders to *.wmv a lot faster than Sony Vegas.
    Don’t know why.
Maybe it is a codec thing?

This is actually what I am trying to find out.
Which codec/compression/whatever takes the least time.

I figure that there is not specific compression renders faster than the others?
    Damn…

I normally stop all the non important processes on my Windows while rendering.
Haven’t noticed any improvement in speed.

The next time I will try shutting down all network processes too.
Maybe this is the key to a faster render.

    PS:
It is true that my computer is much slower than it is supposed to be.
    Don’t know why.
It’s been like that since the first time I assembled it and fired it up.
I know people with weaker configurations that score a lot more points when tested with a benchmarking program.

  • Thanks for the link.
That edge and core matte technique of keying is pretty interesting.
I will try to use it.
