I am working on a video where there is a large burning object in the background and the actors are moving infront of it.

How to create the illusion that the light from the fire in the background is kind of warping around the foreground objects?

I watched Andrew Kramer’s video with that explosion. He used an adjustment layer with a “Glow” effect in it.
I tried that and it worked great, but I need something a little better – something a little deeper, more 3D or something…
Maybe there is a plugin that can also make the forground objects cast shadows and etc?

I also read that similar effect is integrated in some chroma key plugins. They kind of “read” the background Luma & Color info and apply it to the edges of the keyed out object.

Is there a plugin that does just that and is not a part of a chroma keyer?

Also, is there a way to kind of capture the flicker of the background fire and make it change the luminosity of the whole footage in (sorta) real time?

My English sucks, so I hope I explained it right.

    Thanks!

OK, I found a plugin that can do light wrap.
It is from the Red Giant’s “Key Correct” suite.

Problem is that it just adds a halo aound an object using whatever layer you chose – it doesn’t really read the pixels behind the foreground object but rather relies on your choise of a layer.
And when you move the camera, the halo stays around your object, no matter if the object is infront of the selected source layer or not.
    It just adds it.

For example: you may have your background split in two and made out of two layers: a black solid and a white solid.
If you apply the light wrap from thw “Key Correct” suite and chose the white layer as a source for the light wrap halo, the obejct will still be haloed in white, no matter if he/she/it is infront of the black background…
    Pretty useless.

Is there a light wrap plugin or something that can REALLY read what is behind it and use it?
