Settings for fastest render possible?
Hi guys, I am on a very old machine (2,7 GHz Celeron + 1 GB DDR-1 RAM) and it is even slower than is is supposed to be.
Normally it renders a 2 minute video for about 1,5 hours.
Not good.What would be the render settings for the fastest render possible?
I don’t really care about losing some quality and i don’t care about the final format (wmv, avi, mov, etc.) because I’m uploading the videos on Youtube and they get re-compressed and re(down)sized there too.
Keeping the proportions and the aspect ratio of the frame and avoiding stretching and letter box frames is all that I care about in terms of preserving the original quality of the footage.
It would be great if files don’t end up being too big in size too.So, what would be the perfect render routine in my case?
What settings will make it render at the fastest speed possible?PS:
I read somewhere that it is possible to make Vegas use all your RAM.
How to do that? -

There isn’t much you can do with your current computer to
noticeably increase its render time/speed….your best option
is to just upgrade to a faster more powerful computer if you
really want to see performance gains.Even so…the time you stated it takes to render a 2 minute
video shouldn’t take that long on your computer.
Clean up the computer thoroughly and also the registry and
uninstall files and programs you do not use and
have nothing running or open when you are rendering…

I figure that there is not specific compression renders faster than the others?
Damn…I normally stop all the non important processes on my Windows while rendering.
Haven’t noticed any improvement in speed.The next time I will try shutting down all network processes too.
Maybe this is the key to a faster render.PS:
It is true that my computer is much slower than it is supposed to be.
Don’t know why.
It’s been like that since the first time I assembled it and fired it up.
I know people with weaker configurations that score a lot more points when tested with a benchmarking program. -
Yep, its true.
Your computer is not a powerhouse, but the render time you
are getting from it presently should be faster than that.But when all is said and done, you know what the solution has to be.

Are you using SD or HD? Either way I would try the WMV 3 mbps for SD and 4.8 Mbps for HD. The file size limit i think is still 100mb per upload, which should be no problem at all for a 2 min video. If this take anywhere as long as before, There’s something really wrong.

Yeah, I use the wmv 3 mb preset.
Still windows Movie Maker renders to *.wmv a lot faster than Sony Vegas.
Don’t know why.
Maybe it is a codec thing?This is actually what I am trying to find out.
Which codec/compression/whatever takes the least time.
