I knew it it was the camera. Useless piece of junk.
It produces good quality video but the control you have over it is Zero.

I always get green spill. Think this salso depends on the video compression – if the fotasge is too comressed and blyrry, there will be spill around the edges.

Tracking and masking – too lazy to do that.
That’s why I need a good green screen btw.

Garbage mattes – sure, where their use is possible.

Edge and core mattes? Don’t know what these are.
If it is about using matte chokers – I do that.

Its auto white balance can’t be turned off. It only has Auto balance (plus the regular Auto presets – Tungsten, Daylight, ets)

I’ve tried shooting in the highest resolution – same results.

It records in H.264

I do know how to set up a green screen.
Actually, with that Samsung photo camera, I don’t really have to build a very complicated green screen rig – it gets the green just fine.
I wish it was the same with that crappy Aiptek.

I downloaded the two demo packs from Pixelan’s web site.
There is no “StepMotion” effect included in them.

Maybe this effect is only present in the full version?

OK, I will check out this StepTime effect.
Does it have a DEMO?

Also, will this effect add a strobe/flash to the whole frame?
In the video it looks like only parts of the objects in focus have a strobe applied to them. The rest of the frame is kept black and it makes the effect cooler.

Oh, and do I have to set up any special shooting environment for the footage?
Or could this effect be applied to any video, shot in any environment?

Any known examples to check out?

I was wondering if there is a way to use the files directly in Vegas, without having to convert them first.

I just got back from the seaside and there are like 140 vacation videos stored on my SD card.
I would like to edit them and make a documentary but it would be a nightmare to convert the videos one by one, even with the fastest converter.
It looks like QuickTime can’t do lossless batch converting. Or could it?

Yes, Steve, this is what I am talking about.
You can not use Sony Vegas’es inbuilt keyer without the need of a pretty long FX chain before and after it.

I need a bundle that has it all streamlined and tidy.
Like in Keylight.

Unfortunately, Keylight is not available for Vegas users. Wonder why.

I think that the inbuild Chroma keyer is a joke.
Or at leas very hard to get good results out of without the need to extra-tweak the video.
I need something that has it all in one package.
Will check this Boris RED thing out.
If there are other similar keyers for Vegas, I’ll be glad to check them out too.

I don’t know.
I thought that the article that I quoted in my first post said that you can track a white spot in a footage and use the tracked data for your luminocity corection needs. Or something like that…
But it may be my bad English. Maybe I misunderstood it all.

PS:
As for turning the auto-exposure on your cam off: Ican’t do that. My cam is a cheapo HD Aiptek and it produces only footage that has that extra special Annoying Flicker feature. 🙂
