  • I would use a stage object and save the scene under a new name with a different camera set in the stage object. Then you can batch or net render those scenes.
Save Project will not only save the C4D file but also all used texture files in a new directory. This is handy for transfer or to create net jobs.

  • The same size of the executables is correct. In fact they are identical except for the name.
CINEMA detects under what name it was started and will start up as Server or Client if named accordingly.
I only heard of this happening before on an OS X installation that somehow did not start the application with the correct name. Does this happen with the normal version and the UB? The UB version uses the OS X package system which is a bit more complex and relies on the correct information beeing set in the invisible app folder.

Until recently it was a ressource only targeted on educational institutes etc. and not on private or commercial users.
Therefore it wasn’t promoted publicaly in any way.

Cineversity exists for some years now, it’s only lately that they expanded the content and function of it so much.

you can use the create polygon tool for this, it works exactly as you described. Just create an empty polygon object and start to draw polygons.

  • personaly i would do it with TP or Xpresso.
Creating particles along a spline is easy, there is already a preset for this. You would need a second setup to keep the particles on the spline when it’s moving though. If you are after a still then you can emitt the particles after the spline has reachd the shape you want.
With Xpresso you could place the flags using a hierarchy iterator and the index of the flag to compute a relative position on the spline and then use the spline node to set the position of each flag.

  • If you have Dynamics you can use Softbody dynamics on a spline . This won’t give you collisions like the spline dynamics from hair, but believable behaviour for rope.
Another option would be deformaiton by bones and using Soft IK for the motion.

  • The complete CINEMA Folder.
Different to most applications CINEMA places no files outside it’s own directory. Especialy with the net client all you need is this one folder at some place on the client systems disk. Your collegues don’t have to be alarmed, there are no hidden files or services added anywhere on their system, CINEMA is fully self contained.

  • Do you have the client installed for the production system as well?
If yes simply copy the complete folder to each client.
If you need to upgrade a 9.1 installation to 9.6 you have to apply the 9.5 upgrade first and then the 9.6 update. Remember to install all modules before the final 9.6 update.
