Mac or PC? There seems to be an issue with the Mac CS4.

It’s the codec. DNxHD reports RGB values to FCP not Y’CbCr. Therefore FCP applies its internal RGB interpretation which causes the gamma shift you see.

On a Mac you can use our MXF exporters, we have many customers using it with Omneon (D-10/IMX):

I-frames are usually higher than the average bit rate of 35 Mbps.
If you have the chance to rewrap to a MPEG file container you can use MPressionist to analyze the data rate: https://www.digigami.com/mpressionist/
XDCAM HD422 50 Mbps I-frames for example go up to 100 Mbps.

Please note that there are also timecode tracks within the MXF files. Editing the XMLs might work for FCP but it cause issues with other solutions that read timecode directly from the MXF … like ours. 🙂

Please check if you are using the latest 1.3.1 IMX codec from Apple.
In addition you can try our MXF import solution. We have many customers using the MXF eVTR configuration with FCP and you can also edit MXF files while they are being recorded – without a pre-defined duration and without using reference movies.

March 13, 2009 at 1:59 pm in reply to: How to import P2 Metadata into Final Cut Pro 6Annette,
P2 Flow CM that is included with our MXF importer provides the metadata mapping you demand. However each editing station would require the software since it accesses the native MXF files without referencing or converting to MOV. What you could do is to fire all P2 clips over to FCP with the User Clip Name set to be the Clip Name (an option within P2 Flow CM) and then export the files from FCP to MOV for none MXF aware editing stations.
Please note that P2 Flow CM is not included in the free demo version. Please get in touch with us when you want to receive a test license: https://mxf4mac.com/contact
Thanks

And like Greg said correctly the timecode of 720p50 P2 MXF is 25 fps, whereas the video runs at 50 fps.

JPEG2000, not XDCAM.
I am not aware of a software solution on the Mac that can wrap to MXF with JPEG2000 compression. I assume you need this for digital cinema. You should check DVS Clipster:
