    Dan-

No Problem. This is one of FCP’s little “gotcha”. I created 2 presets, 1 for Non-Drop and the other for Drop.

    good luck,

    Hi Danny,

Are you digitizing via firewire. If so check your “Device Control Preset” and change the “Default Timecode” setting. This has helped me in the past.

  • Searchers-

I have had a similar problem. I think it is frame rate related.
My solution has been to export the HD sequence as a self contained movie. Then, re-import the movie and insert that into the NTSC timeline.

    good luck!!

    Hi Rob,

Check your “Device Control Preset”. When digitizing with firewire you may need to tell this setting if the footage is “Drop frame” or “Non-drop”.

    Good luck!

  • Chris,

If I understand your question. It sounds like you want to export an EDL of the cut down sequences.

We have had no problems using our Z1U to FCP thru Firewire. With HDV1080i 60 or HDV1080i 50.
    Should be no problem!

  • Henry,

I’m not sure, but you could copy the window layout and place it on the server. The window layouts are located, HD>user>____>library>Preferences>FCP User Data>Window Layouts. That might help. It seems that they are per user so you may not be able to have them on a server.
    good luck!

    Lino,

I would double check that the start of the output is not clipping off your first frame of the timeline. Also check that your device control preset has the correct offset. Check the last frame of your first clip and see if that matches on both the timeline and output tape. Just an thought.

  • Henry,

After you set up your window layout. Go to window>arrange>save window layout. When you get the save box enter the name you want and save. If you do not change anything it should open up this way when you start FCP. If not it should now be part of the list in window>arrange>.
