    Hiya,

We’ve just installed FCP5.04 and are having a bizarre problem with the playout to tape, we’ve compiled a set of bumpers to lay onto tape the first one starting at 10:00:00:00 with the next coming in at 10:01:00:00 etc. The first bumper starts bang on 10:00:00:00 but from the second bumper onwards the playout comes in 1 frame early, I.E. 10:00:59:24.. And the same problem occurs with all subsiquent bumpers. It’s driving our graphics guy mad, and in turn he’s annoying the hell out of me so any answers would be GREATLY appriciated.

    Thanks

    Lino

I think we may be talking at cross purposes, I’m dealing with PAL input and output..

did you double check your compile sequence to be sure that the it is accurate? (such an easy mistake to make – 30 sec bumper, go to end and type “+30.” and edit in the next bumper … oops, went in 1 frame late as first bumper duration was really 30:01)

probably too obvious but always worth checking

Thanks for that, I pinned the graphics guy into the corner and asked him and he swore that it wasn’t that so it’s back to the drawing board I guess..

    Lino,

I would double check that the start of the output is not clipping off your first frame of the timeline. Also check that your device control preset has the correct offset. Check the last frame of your first clip and see if that matches on both the timeline and output tape. Just an thought.

Ok… next question has to be… What format are you laying these to? BetaSP or DV? If its DV, you really need to stripe the tape first so that you get a stripe of fresh timecode to regen when you lay back to tape. Remember some DV doesn’t do actual timecode, just actual time layed to tape.
