So when we go to digitize HDV tapes from either a canon HV20a HDV camera or a sony HVR-M10U Deck. I get time code break errors in FCP5, in FCP 6 it says stream error. We have tried two different machines, one an intel mac with 2 xserve raids, and a powerbook with a G-Riad firewire 800. We have tried tapes shot on different cameras

    Hi Danny,

Are you digitizing via firewire. If so check your “Device Control Preset” and change the “Default Timecode” setting. This has helped me in the past.

Ha Billy you are man. The tapes where all shot as NDF instead of DF. thanx for help. I had an assistant editor that logged about 15 hours of tape, and was freaking out. He gets paid buy the show.

    Thanx, dan.

    Dan-

No Problem. This is one of FCP’s little “gotcha”. I created 2 presets, 1 for Non-Drop and the other for Drop.

    good luck,
