There are quite a few tips from the guru’s on how “to get the best results” from your YouTube upload. But I’ve found that YouTube never looks so great no matter what I do. So after many tries I’ve just gone to uploading 720 files at 15fps ( my video doesn’t contain many fast action shots ) … but this is a very fast workflow. Fast to encode …fast to upload .. and it looks fine. My clients seem happy enough , and I’m spending a lot less time moving those monster files around.

Yes Robert, thanks..makes perfect sense. I am also considering installing an esata card in this older Mac G5 .. it only has PCI option .. not PCI-X. The 2 TB drive has an esata connection. That would be best , especially when I do some occasional stuff with HD footage.

Hi Robert , I’m just editing SD DVCAM material now. But I was just thinking that maybe I should transfer all the footage from 500GB drive to new 2 TB drive. I don’t want to lose all the FCP project links to video files… nervous about this.

“I really don’t care if Apple never offers BluRay support in DVDSP because that means I will continue to have an advantage over anyone on here who just sits around waiting for Apple.”

    Walter Biscardi, Jr.

Well I think what we have here is an honest difference of opinion. Because I do care. FCP is so good in so many ways …. it just seems a damn shame to me that they can’t incorporate this most needed feature. I’m all about seamless and easy when it comes to workflow …. and I’ve got this funny feeling that I’m not alone.

    Hi Walter,

Yes I fully understand that there are, and have been “workound” solutions for this Blu Ray issues for quite awhile. And yes I agree, if someone needs Blu Ray today they can go out there and configure some third party solution. In this thread I am not talking about my personal situation, I am truly amazed that Apple has avoided this Blu Ray solution for so long. This gets away from the Apple’s “Complete Edit Suite” marketing strategy. This is a company that was built on cutting edge and elegant computer solutions. In the case of Blu Ray…grade F.

    Hi Steve,
If Apple weren’t one of the largest and wealthiest computer companies in the world I might accept this excuse. They’ve got the resources, they’ve got the clout, they’ve got the customer base … make it happen. All the competition already has. I am Apple’s customer, I buy their computers, I buy their software, so it is to them that I look for a solution. We’re not talking about some little unimportant detail here. Having a reasonable workflow to deliver and show your HD work goes to the heart of the entire video business. Without it, your dead in the water.

It has gotten to the point that Apple is doing serious damage to its entire professional apps division by waiting so long to incorporate a Blu Ray solution with FCP. We need it now, we needed it two years ago .. no more excuses Apple…deliver this now or get ready for future strategy sessions in Cupertino sitting around tables discussing why FCP sales and your Professional customers have gone away…. and how you can get them back.

Hi Walter ….. What do you think the future holds for using the XD Cam footage and FCP in terms of seamless work flow. We too are interested in the camera, but are put off by some of the slow import stories were hearing. thanks BW
