Hi Ashley. I’ve got a lightly used 60D that is in mint condition, with original boxing etc. If you are interested let me know at bwbeta@mac.com and I can send you more detailed info. We can figure out a fair price. We’ve got 3 DSLR’s here and don’t need he 60 D. Cheers BW

Few things I’ve learned shooting video from helicopter without gyro. It’s damn hard. Shoot as wide as possible, rig something like a bean bag to rest camera on. And hope your on a smooth flying chopper …. Some helis are smooth, others bounce round like tanks. Not much you can do about this. Good luck. BW

Thanks Paul. For really sweet motion I am looking forward to getting something like a Kessler dolly. For me, the ability to shoot professional stills and HD video on the same camera is priceless. Sure, some big trade offs with DSLR’s for video …. Like no real audio capability , but this is easy to get around.

November 11, 2012 at 4:00 pm in reply to: FCPX 10.0.6 , how to media Import video only ?

Your right Brett, forgetting to turn off “video only” and them importing my next clip the same way because I forgot to turn it back on ….. is something we’ve all done. Thank everyone for your input. This is one of those things that there is no clear “right” answer, I could argue for the media import window to have this feature or not. For me personally, I would lean towards the give me the option position, let me decide. Cheers everyone.

Thanks Kyle. This would appear to be a paradigm shift from any other professional edit system I’ve ever worked with. From Avid to FCP 7 , you have always been able to select exactly what you want to import, either just audio, just video etc. I think this feature should be included in future versions, other Cowheads please pipe in with your shared wisdom and thoughts.

Once you get a lower third box and text you like, simply copy and paste when you need to re-use it, then you can go in and readjust type or parameters, this speeds things up. You don’t need to re-create each time.

Hi Paul. We were very happy with FCP 7 editing Canon DSLR footage …. bit I have to tell you, at first I was very reluctant to try FCPX …. but now I love it. It’s wicked fast, automatically encodes our DSLR footage to ProRes 422 upon import …. and is very stable on the iMac with Pegasus thunderbolt drives. I’d suggest you I’ve it a try before you bail to Premiere .. You might be surprised. Good luck. BW

Hi Marco. It’s great that your out there shooting … editing and improving your photography skills on a regular basis. Nice footage & music. If you can find a song about “mean nuns who whack students with rulers” I might consider a look back at my elementary school days. cheers BW

Greg, I am using the exact same setup , canon 60D & Vello unit. I haven,t used it very much yet, but the first few tests went well. But when I was researching techniques online, I came across quite a few people who also said you should only shoot these time lapses in JPEG. BW
