Darian…. if you re-name the new drive with the “exact” same name as the original drive … FCP will think it’s the same drive and all you media should be there. BW

I bought the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM for $650 about a year and a half ago. I use it for architectural interiors and video footage on Canon 60D, which is not a full sensor camera. Couldn’t,t be happier, holds it own when compared with some of my other Canon pro series lenses. Great lens or the money. BW

I think you would greatly benefit from the HD little portable GoPro’s camera.

You bring up a good point Jason … people need to be aware that these drive arrays require a heck of a long time to initialize … no plug and play here. It took my drives 18 hours of initializing before I could use them. I also had a few problems setting them up , before my computer saw them. Tech support had me fiddle with Thunderbolt cable for awhile… I had to swap cable ports and also reverse direction of cables before they were OK. But since that initial setup hassle .. no problems at all. BW

January 28, 2012 at 1:26 am in reply to: When buying a MacPro tower was No Brainer. Now what? Versus MBPro, iMacIf its any consolation, I too faced this exact same dilemma a few months ago. I never thought I would edit on anything but a MacPro. But I needed a new computer now, not in six months.so I purchased the best iMac 27″ I could get, added 16gb ram, faster graphics card, a SD & internal hard rives , and then hooked it all up to a Pegasus 6TB thunderbolt array. My workflow is very similar to yours, also 30 minute shows shot with 1080p Canon DSLR,s… This system seems sweet, using FCP 7…. very snappy. But if you need the expansion capabilities, hold off for the MacPro, if not you,ll be fine with a fast iMac. BW

Ditto John. I too have the Pegasus p6 thunderbolt drives on an all new tricked out iMac running FCP 7 , drives have been solid and flawless. Sorry for your trouble, but this sound like an anamalie .BW

I know that people are doing this with Steamclip … so search these forums some more, it may simply be that your software is too old to pull this off. good luck BW

December 27, 2011 at 5:08 am in reply to: cant get my canon5d footage in the right format, as everyone i do seems not to workthe best way to ingest this footage into FCP is by using Canon’s EOS free plug-in for FCP …you can Log & Transfer this footage right into your FCP project…. in the settings you can select how you want this footage to import. ie, ProRes 422HQ or whatever. Go to Canon USA website, navigate to drivers & firmware downloads..select your particular camera from the list ..it will also ask you what OS you are using. check out this comprehensive tutorial from Shane Ross here at the Cow https://library.creativecow.net/ross_shane/tapeless-workflow_fcp-7/1

ah ha …. got it Phil. I had downloaded& updated the correct driver .. however somehow it never loaded properly on my system, So this morning after some sleep , I simply went back and reloaded the driver, and now she works. A combination of late night work and computer gremlins I guess. Now let me tell you how envious I am of you “down under” types going into summer, as we shovel snow and face bitter cold temperatures. cheers BW

Hi Phil ….. good thought, but yes I’ve got the correct driver loaded. I will keep hunting for a solution and will post here when I figure it out. Any other thoughts … send em my way. BW
