Part of my problem also was that after installing 4.1, I was getting the error message that 4.0 static plugin was no longer available.

Thanks Paul, I was unaware of the script.

On my first try it didn’t work for me also – I could only choose Off or Letterbox in the SD to SD conversion, and the signal was not usable. After some random switching of inputs and capture settings (both HD & SD) it did start to function as advertised, but then after a while my Kona 2 seem to lock up and wouldn’t work at all. I had to shut the whole system down and let it sit for a minute or 2 just to get it to reboot. Once I was up the conversion was again not working, but after some playing I got it to work again. I’ve tried to recreate the steps to get it to fail and/or start working, but to no avail.
The other thing that I find not to work is Downconvert on the input side. With 1080i feeding my Kona 2, it will not down convert to 525 29.97 – upconvert works fine though.
I have not had any problems with crashing.

Check to see if “Generate Safe Levels” is clicked off in your prefs. In RED 4 it’s in Project Settings, and in 3 it’s in Preferences – Local Project.

I agree, pretty wacky not to be able to open what you created with RED3 with RED4. What I do is open the RED3 generator/filter and copy the tracks, then replace it with a RED4 generator/fitler and paste the tracks. So far everything gets transfered over.

I’m using the same SDLT drive with Retrospect and it’s extremely reliable – I archive everything I do. I’ve used a DLT and Retrospect for about 10 years (used it with my avid and OS 7-9 prior) and have never had an issue with it.

February 10, 2006 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Kona 2 – 1.2 driver – small vertical stretch on reverse-playInterestingly, if I switch to 10-bit output the image just shifts up on reverse-play (no stretch), while on 8-bit output the bottom of the frame stays but the image stretches vertically the same amount. If I match the shift with the motion tab it appears to be about 6 pixels – 480 vs. 486 ?
